Note that the book is a few years old so it’s a bit outdated (Cars Land isn’t in there and it covers the time before the renovation of Buena Vista street and the main entrance). We had fun reading through the scavenger hunt and additional clues to find the Hidden Mickeys. We found the scavenger hunt way too difficult and preferred to just read the hints and look for them (we would have missed everything otherwise!). There’s also a Hidden Mickeys book for Disney World.
Like in the book, I’ll separate these out between actual Hidden Mickeys and mere decorative Mickeys. Unfamiliar with a Hidden Mickey? It’s a representation of Mickey in a place you might not look for it or expect it. Y
Here are a few we saw at Disneyland and California Adventure:
This one is in the exit area of Astro Blasters, the Buzz Lightyear ride, on a larger picture.
This is one of the Hidden Mickeys in the book. Personally I thought it was lame, but it was included. It’s on the cannon in Frontierland.
This is one of my favorites. It’s on Pirate Lair island inside one of the caves. You’ll also find one of these locks outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, on the store door as you exit.
Another favorite, my daughter spotted this one on the Space Mountain ride cart when we got in. It’s in the book.This one on Indiana Jones is VERY clever and hard to see without light. The flash captured it well, but I’d never know it was there without the book. It’s in the room with the video, just before you’re about to get on the ride.
This one is on Toy Story. It’s one of the more obvious ones that’s featured in the book.
Decorative Mickeys – these aren’t hidden, but are part of the Disney decor. They’re still fun to spot.
You’ll find this sign on the Autopia ride.While there’s supposed to be a hidden Mickey on the tent above the bag search, I didn’t see it. These Mickeys are all over the ticket booths.
This Mickey was on some of the food carts.This is not hidden at all, and is in the gift shop outside of Space Mountain. I like the little Mickey at the base of the display – can you see it? It looks like a keyhole.Aren’t these benches cute? They’re in the entrance area between the parks.
