If you are lucky or unlucky enough to be in NYC on December 13 this year, you can catch Santa Con. We’ve mistakenly been on NJ Transit the last few years on Santa Con day, not realizing what day it actually was. Women in micromini skirts in freezing weather dressed as an elf or Mrs. Claus (you go girl!) and men wearing onesies, you see it all.
Santa Con is not bad early in the day, when everyone is sober. It’s actually pretty fun to watch people gathering near Times Square (around Broadway and 39th Street) for the kick-off. Then they’re off to the bars.
The good news is that with the kids, you’re not heading to the bars, so you’ll see some people on the street, but otherwise won’t be bothered. Just make sure not to head back to NJ too late, or you’ll be heading back with drunk Santas. That is less fun. Trust me.
