This is part of a series on New York City holiday windows for 2014. You can also see posts for Barney’s windows , Sak’s windows , Lord & Taylor windows , Bergdorf-Goodman’s windows and Bloomingdale’s windows.
Macy’s theme this year is about a boy too excited to sleep on Christmas Eve. So he takes out his telescope and sees Santa visiting other planets. So the windows revolve around planets and Santa/toys.
Here you see Alex looking through his telescope at the night sky. The story is in the bottom part of the window.
Another view of the first window. You can see his dog sleeping in the left corner. Someone should tell this boy to turn off his TV, because that’s not going to help him sleep!
The first stop is Mercury – here is Santa’s toy shop with the ever popular Olaf in the picture. Can you find him? My daughter spotted him immediately.

Here’s a close-up. You can see an elf stuck under the sleigh, with a dog pulling him out. And what you can’t see is the automated line of toys circulating around the window – very cute.
This is Mars, with its peppermint candy throughway.
The red Martian mountain was wonderful!
This is the Jupiter and Saturn window. I like Santa in the space suit.
This is the Jupiter and Saturn window. Look for the dog in the space suit in the top left corner, near Saturn. Unfortunately there’s glare.
This was my favorite window, as the snow beasts grabbed planets (or were they snowballs?) and moved them around. You can see an ice city under the globe on the right.

This window has a video game kids can play.
Here you can see Earth, with a view of NYC and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
On the side of Macy’s (near the marquees), they have the scenes from past years, the Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus windows. Here are two below.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus
